Brent Hathaway- AA Head Coach & Mavericks Manager
Coach Hathaway continues to be one of the most successful American Legion baseball coaches in the Northwest and is now entering his 42nd year as a baseball mentor. Coach Hath was last honored as the 2019 AA Coach of the Year, the ninth time Hath has been selected for this honor. In 2023 Coach Hath took his Mavericks to the Montana State Tournament for the 31st consecutive year. Coach Hathaway is in his 34th year overall with the Mavericks and his 32nd year of coaching the Maverick’s “AA” team.
Coach Hathaway was named as the Montana American Maverick’s AA manager his teams have compiled an overall record of 1536 wins to 771 losses. Hathaway earned a B.A. degree in secondary education at the University of Idaho. Coach Hathaway is enjoying retirement after teaching math at Hellgate Middle School in Missoula for 29 years. Brent and his wife Tammy reside outside of Potomac, Montana.

Brian Moser – AA Assistant Coach
This is Brian’s 18th year as an Assistant Coach with the “AA” Mavericks. Moser, a former Maverick who played for Coach Hathaway in 1999 and 2000, had a career batting average of .374. Brian graduated from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington where he played football and baseball. In his senior year at Whitworth, Brian posted a .369 batting average and was voted Whitworth’s Offensive Player of the Year. Brian was awarded All NWC Honorable Mention at First Base in 2004. In 2006, Brian taught math and was the Varsity Baseball Head Coach at Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas, NV. He currently teaches math at Sentinel High School. Brian, his wife Katie, and children Gracie, Molly, and Harris, reside in Missoula.

James Martin – AA Assistant Coach
Coach Martini was raised in Missoula, and played 5 years in the Missoula Mavericks program from 2014-2018. James played baseball at Miles Community College, after two years there he graduated with an associates degree. He then transferred to the University of Mary and played baseball for 3 years and graduated with a bachelor’s degree. James then moved on to play one year of Indy ball in California before coming back to Missoula to start coaching for the Mavs.
